Iran’s Revolutionary Guards fired missiles at two merchant vessels passing through the Strait of Hormuz on Monday night.

The two ships were damaged, but there were no casualties. Britain’s maritime security agency said a ​tanker caught fire after it was struck by a projectile east of Oman’s Limah.

The United Kingdom Maritime ​Trade Operations agency (UKMTO) said that the tanker was shit on its port side while ⁠sailing southbound around 8 nautical miles east of Limah.

The latest attack highlights the dangers of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, which has become the centrepoint of the U.S-Iran war, which has disrupted shipping in the region and caused global energy shortages and inflation across the world.

Even after the signing of the interim agreement, there are no signs of lasting peace, even though a 60-day ceasefire was intended to create space for diplomacy after the U.S and Israeli strikes triggered the conflict.

President Donald ‌Trump has said that Washington would either reach a final agreement with Iran or ‘finish the job’ since Iran is not upholding the agreement following the funeral of the former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

According to reports, Iran’s Revolutionary Guards threatened ships via radio over the weekend, saying, “Our missiles and drones are ready to fire at you.”

One of the ships that came under attack appears to be the ⁠Al Rekayyat, a liquefied natural gas tanker owned and managed by Nakilat, also known as Qatar Gas Transport Company Ltd, which operates one of the world’s largest LNG shipping fleets.
