Global shipping networks face escalating systemic shocks, demanding enhanced resilience and Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) implementation within port organizations. This study addresses this critical need by prioritizing ESG-related competencies for port managerial and professional roles, rather than solely focusing on outcomes. Utilizing a hybrid multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) framework and survey data from Ningbo-Zhoushan Port Group, we identified “systemic risk foresight” as the highest-weighted indicator among twenty. Evaluation of challenges to marine plastic waste management with an integrated multiple-criteria decision-making approach
Marine plastic pollution represents a critical global environmental threat, demanding robust and validated management strategies. This study utilizes an integrated, multi-criteria decision-making framework—employing Fermatean Fuzzy Sets, Analytic Hierarchy Process, and Decision-Making Trial and Evaluation Laboratory—to assess key challenges impeding effective waste management. Our analysis, informed by expert consensus and a comprehensive literature review, identifies deficiencies in real-time data, social awareness, coastal planning, scientific guidance, and enforcement as primary obstacles.
