Hurricane induced spatial and temporal variation in salinity in a semi-enclosed subtropical Estuarine Bay

This study utilizes validated numerical simulations to quantify the relative contributions of canal discharge and rainfall to these changes. Results indicate canals drove up to 90% of shoreline salinity shifts, while rainfall dominated deeper waters. Furthermore, Lagrangian particle tracking revealed wind-driven flushing, with easterly winds accelerating water expulsion and inducing spatially variable stratification within the bay.
