Connecting ocean data to its methods for measurable traceability

Only 18.2% of methodological responses from ocean data providers included a resolvable persistent identifier. That number should be higher. Traceability is not optional when data informs climate policy. The Ocean Best Practices System and EMODnet Physics are building the linkages between in situ records and the methods that produced them, but the gap between documentation and deposition remains wide. For deeper context on how ocean intelligence is applied, see our coverage of ice cores revealing measurable climate indicators.
