Finding the "Extraordinary" in the Ordinary
Been shooting as a hobby for a while now, and lately I've really fallen back in love with just... capturing my everyday surroundings. For the longest time I felt this weird pressure to always hunt down the perfect landscape or find a "worthy" subject before I could justify pulling my camera out. Like it had to be a special occasion or something.
But recently I started challenging myself to find interesting light and textures just in my neighborhood, or honestly even just my kitchen. It's been way more freeing than I expected. No gig, no deliverable, just vibes.
Curious how other hobbyists keep the spark alive when you're not traveling or on a specific shoot. Do you have a go-to everyday subject you keep coming back to? Or maybe a certain lens that just makes the mundane feel a little magical?
