Indian Navy Escorts Two More Tankers Through Hormuz Amidst Cheer From Crew

Two LPG tankers carrying a combined LPG cargo of 94,000 MT have safely transited the Hormuz and are on their way to India, with one arriving tomorrow and the other on April 1, 2026.
The crew onboard the tankers chanted slogans like ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ while expressing their gratitude towards the Indian Navy, which escorted them safely.
The BW TYR is sailing towards Mumbai and is expected to reach the port on March 31, and BW ELM is heading to New Mangalore, with its scheduled date of arrival being April 1.
The Indian Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has assured that all measures are in place to uphold the safety of Indian ships and seafarers operating in the Middle East.
The Ministry added that all Indian seafarers are safe and no incidents involving Indian vessels have been reported in the past 24 hours.
Per the latest reports, 18 Indian-flagged ships and 485 seafarers are in the Persian Gulf. DG Shipping is coordinating with the respective ship owners and the crew routinely to monitor the situation.
DG Shipping Control Room remains open 24×7 and has handled 4523 calls and 8,985 emails since activation.
It has also facilitated the safe return of more than 942 Indian seafarers so far, including 4 in the past 24 hours.
India has called for the safe transit of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, a key maritime chokepoint where 20% of global oil supply passes through.
The Indian Government stated that it is maintaining a watch over the regional volatilities to safeguard national energy interests.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, “We are closely following all developments in West Asia. We continue to call for ensuring safe and free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz as a matter of priority.”
